The Food that Causes Heartburn
to Hurt
Food that causes heartburn to worsen, or be aggravated, is food that you may need to avoid or cut back on if you are pregnant or otherwise regularly suffer from heartburn. Everyone is different, so some foods that aggravate one person may not bother another. The key is to try to eliminate certain foods, and see if it helps!
The following is a list of potentially aggravating foods if you have pregnancy heartburn:
- French fries
- Fried chicken
- Fried fish
- Onion rings
- Fatty beef
- Bacon
- Sausage
- Any fatty meats
- Alcohol
- Coffee
- Tea
- Chocolate
- Peppermint
- Foods high in acids, such as citrus fruit
- Tomatoes
- Tomato sauce
- Spaghetti
- Chili
- Onion
- Garlic
- Carbonated beverages
Any foods that are especially high-fat, spicy, or acidic are foods to consider cutting back on. Even if you love the taste of these foods, you have to decide if it is worth the pain later!
